Yukari Sasada

Double Bass Virtuoso & Educator

From the refined traditions of Kyoto to the grand stages of Canada,

Yukari Sasada has shaped a musical journey distinguished by artistry, versatility, and profound depth of expression.

She began her studies at the age of eleven,

training under the legendary double bass masters Gary Karr, F. Petracchi and Masahiro Nishide,

and graduated from the esteemed Kyoto City University of Arts.

Her professional career soared as Principal Bassist of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra,

where her commanding presence and lyrical tone anchored the ensemble’s foundation.

Since then, she has become a sought-after performer across North America,

appearing with many of Alberta’s leading orchestras

 — Edmonton Symphony Orchestra,

      Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra,

      Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra,

      Alberta Symphony Orchestra.

She also lends her artistry to the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra, enriching its performances with both refinement and power.

Equally devoted to education, Yukari served as Double Bass Instructor at the Thailand Mahidol University and University of Lethbridge,

where she inspires the next generation of musicians through a teaching philosophy rooted in discipline, curiosity, and the pursuit of beauty in sound.

Her passion for nurturing talent has also extended internationally,

through collaborations and outreach with numerous universities and conservatories across Asia and North America.

Today, Yukari Sasada stands as both performer and pedagogue

— A musician whose artistry bridges continents, and whose double bass voice continues to resonate with elegance, authority, and timeless warmth.
