Brian Larson

Brian Larson is an internationally seasoned violinist with over three decades of distinguished experience across Canada, Asia, and Europe. A graduate of McGill University with High Distinction, he studied under legendary violin pedagogues including Mauricio Fuks, Tom Williams, Gwen Thompson, and Vladimir Landsman, and has performed in over 3,500 concerts worldwide.


Brian has held core positions with leading orchestras such as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, and served as Concertmaster of the Selangor Symphony Orchestra. He has shared the stage with world-renowned artists and conductors including Yo-Yo Ma, Pinchas Zukerman, Isaac Stern, Gil Shaham, and Mstislav Rostropovich.


A highly versatile musician, Brian is also celebrated for his crossover collaborations with major pop icons. He has performed or recorded with global superstars including Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, and Nickelback, as well as top Asian artists such as Eason Chan, Siti Nurhaliza, and Anuar Zain—blending classical finesse with popular appeal on some of the biggest stages in the world.


As an arranger, electric violinist, and composer, Brian’s work has been featured in film and award-winning albums —

including Columbia Pictures’ Spider-Man (2002) soundtrack, in the hit song Hero by Chad Kroeger.


A passionate and methodical teacher, Brian has coached thousands of students and fellow educators, 

including as Violin Coach for the Asian Youth Orchestra’s 25th Anniversary Season. 

His pedagogical clarity and deep artistic insight continue to influence serious students preparing for top-level competitions and conservatory entry.


Now based in Malaysia, Brian Larson brings his wealth of artistry to the Hsia & Goh Chamber Orchestra, serving as a Artist and Mentor, helping shape the next generation of classical musicians with depth, versatility, and world-class discipline.
